Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is running/teaching our workshops?

A. Our workshops are organized by staff at Junior Achievement of New Jersey and taught by corporate and student volunteers!

Q. How long are our workshops?

A. Workshops are about 2 hours long with breaks built into the schedule.

Q. What will I (or my child) need for the workshop?

A. All you’ll need is a laptop with Zoom downloaded (Chromebooks/MacBooks work!)

Q. What if I (or my child) have never coded before?

A. Beginners are welcome! We have beginner-level workshops that are meant for students who are just getting into coding :)

Q. How will I (or my child) join the virtual workshop?

A. We will be sending out a Zoom link to all registered participants near the workshop date!

Q. What if I (or my child) runs into issues during the workshop?
A. We will be assigning students to small breakout rooms so the volunteer(s) in the room will be able to make sure everyone is on track! JANJ staff will also be on the call to help with technical issues.

Q. My child is in elementary school - can they still register?

A. Yes! Our middle school workshops are catered towards 6th-8th grade students, so we’d recommend registering them in one of our beginner Scratch workshops.

Q. I’m not available for an upcoming workshop date listed

A. You can sign up for our newsletter here to be notified of future events!

Q. I’m a high school or college student with coding experience already. How can I get involved?

A. Sign up to join our volunteer committee and help lead workshops! Training videos and teaching material will be provided.
